After its establishment in 2005, OBX Lacrosse witnessed a steady growth in participation on the Outer Banks. As players aged-out, they progressed to the next level, indicating the increasing popularity of the sport. By 2010, the introduction of varsity high school lacrosse seemed like a natural progression. Coincidentally, the same year marked a significant milestone as the North Carolina High School Athletic Association (NCHSAA) decided to include boys lacrosse as a recognized state sport. This decision paved the way for the formation of a varsity lacrosse team at First Flight High School. Thanks to the visionary leadership of Principal Artie Tillett, boys varsity lacrosse became an exciting addition to the spring lineup at First Flight High School. The sport's growth and recognition continue to provide opportunities for aspiring lacrosse players on the Outer Banks.
